Srigiri, a special temple of Lord Venkata Chalapathy located on the hill Srigiri, in Ongole, prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh, India. This temple was built with a special message from the divine, made possible through the wholehearted efforts of the family, and is maintained by the same brothers. The mains of the team are of Sri Aluru Venkata Ramana Rao, Sri Jwala Rama Rao, Sri Rama Krishna Rao, Sri Venkateswara Rao and Sri C.V. Ramakrishna Rao.
The significance of the temple aroused from its simplicity and disciplines followed with utmost attention paid to the tradition in all of its programs. Besides the holy sanctum of the temple with its special mend of Garuda aakara ( Eagle shaped architecture of temple), the maha murthy ( Main Statue ) is observed to be carved in Omkaara Sila – a special type of stone that gives the sound of Om when touched, and with almost of equal in size to Shri Venkata Chalapathy of Tirumala- Tirupati.
The Archaka aacharyas follow the discipline of Vaikhanasa, recited by the famous holy sage Vikhanasa, as also followed in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. People from all walks of life visit the temple regularly, and it has gained fame as Srigiri Venkateswara Swamy. All the auspicious occasions in this temple are followed by Unjala seva (Cradle Ceremony) in its style of difference celebrated with programs of vocal, instrumental, folk and other cultural arts like kolatam dance. |
